Debunking Overnight Success Myths
Ever heard of that Chai cafe wala who became a millionaire overnight? Neither have I. Because, let’s face it, he probably didn’t.
Success isn’t a plate of instant noodles; it’s more like biryani – slow-cooked with layers of effort, patience, and a whole lot of spice. Remember that cousin who brags about their “overnight success”? Yeah, they conveniently forget to mention the years they spent toiling away in their parents’ garage, fueled by chai and Maggi.
We Indians love a good underdog story. We cheer for the chaiwala who becomes Prime Minister and the dabbawalas who deliver lunch with clockwork precision. But even these “rags to riches” tales have a backstory – years of hard work, resilience, and a sprinkle of good fortune.
We Indians are the kings and queens of jugaad. We can fix anything with a safety pin and duct tape, and turn a humble bucket into a shower stall. But even the most ingenious jugaadu can’t hack their way to overnight success.
Ever heard the one about the chaiwala who traded his cutting chai for a private jet? Sounds like a Bollywood plot, doesn’t it? Except, even in Bollywood, the hero has to dance his way through 15 songs and fight off a few goons before he gets the girl, let alone a Gulfstream.
That Instagram influencer who seems to have it all? They probably spent countless hours posing in awkward positions, editing photos, and dealing with trolls. That startup founder who’s the toast of the town? Chances are, they had to pitch their idea a thousand times before someone finally bit.
The Bottom Line:
Don’t get fooled by the glitzy headlines and social media highlight reels.
Success isn’t about finding a shortcut; it’s about embracing the long, winding road. It’s about failing, learning, and trying again. It’s about grit, determination, and a whole lot of chai-fueled brainstorming sessions.
